Introduction

The Iwaki office is Kureha’s main production base and produces products for a wide range of fields and sells them globally.
As the “mother factory” of the Kureha Group, we create special products and work towards manufacturing products of value, such as functional resins used for automobile and electric and electronic parts, carbon fiber used as heat insulation material for high temperature furnaces and similar installations, lthium-ion battery components for hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles, raw materials for food packaging materials such as the household wrap “New Krewrap”, and medicines such as chronic renal failure agents.

Activities

Since first being used as a binder for the world’s first usable lithium batteries in 1991, ‘Kureha KF Polymer’ (polyvinylidene fluoride resin) has continued to be a major brand for lithium battery binders and is used all over the world.

‘Carbotron P’ is an anode active material for batteries that were developed by structure control technology for carbon materials that were made possilble thanks to Kureha’s expertise.  In 1991, ‘Carbotron P’ was used with the world’s first lithium-ion batteries that were put into practical use. Since then, Kureha’s high level of safety, durability and input-output power characteristics has been highly praised in the open market.
