WindEnergy Hamburg 2020 Report

WindEnergy Hamburg 2020 went online!

WindEnergy Hamburg (WEH)2020 was going to take place in Hamburg, Germany from December 1 to 4, 2020. However, due to explosive spread of Covid-19 infections in Europe, its exhibition style was changed to all digital as WindEnergy Hamburg Digital. The platform provided opportunities for participants to share information and take part in matchmaking meetings as well as streaming webinars on WindTV.

In spite of the change to digital exhibition, Fukushima Prefecture and EnergyAgency. FUKUSHIMA (EA.F) participated in the trade fair, introducing activities and wind power companies based in the prefecture.

At WindTV H2 Talks, Dr. Hirohide Furutani, Director of Renewable Energy Research Centre made a key note speech on Japan’s Hydrogen Strategy and R&D being undertaken by Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA).

B2B platform organized by WEH Digital is a system which allows participating companies to make matching appointments by viewing their profiles each other. During just a two-day trade fair, EA.F received 11 offers from 9 companies based in 7 countries including Ireland, Germany, Taiwan, France, China, Denmark and Spain.

Companies in each country showed high interest in Fukushima aiming to produce renewable energy equivalent to 100% local energy consumption. During the meeting, they asked us many questions on wind power market in Fukushima.

Based on the talks, we will undertake consequence analysis and necessary follow-ups in order to support companies to get many business opportunities between Fukushima and other participating countries.
