Basque Energy Cluster, Basque Country and EnergyAgency.FUKUSHIMA (EAF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of renewable energy.

On 30th May, Thursday, Basque Energy Cluster and EnergyAgency.FUKUSHIMA signed MoU in the field of renewable energy, at the city of Bilbao located in the Basque Country. This was a fourth MoU signed between EAF and energy related organization, following EnergyAgency.NRW (the State of NRW, Germany), Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster (the City of Hamburg, Germany) and State of Green (Denmark).

At the ceremony, Mr. José Ignacio Hormaeche and Mr. Yasuhiro Hattori, Managing Director of both organizations signed the documents, and joined by Mr. Javier Zarraonandia, the Deputy Industry Minister, Mr. Yosuke Shishido, the Director of Fukushima Prefectural Government and Mr. Takahiro Yamada, the First Secretory of the Japanese Embassy in Spain as guests.

Basque Country locates in northern part of Spain and very active in renewable energy industry, especially in wind power industry. One example would be Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy S.A., a one of top four wind turbine manufacturer locating in the province of Biscay.

Basque Energy Cluster was founded in year 1996, playing an important role to furnish energy field. It is made up of the leading companies in the energy sectors, academic institutes and public administration bodies involved in energy sector, located in the Country. Currently, over 150 companies and entities are joining in the cluster.

Mr. Hormaeche and Mr. Hattori, Managing Directors are shaking hands. Mr. Javier Zarraonandia, the Deputy Industry Minister, Mr. Yosuke Shishido, the Director of Fukushima Prefectural Government and Mr. Takahiro Yamada, the First Secretory of the Japanese Embassy in Spain are in the back side from the right, respectively.
