Renewal of Cooperation Agreement between Energy Agency Fukushima and Energy Agency NRW

Energy Agency Fukushima signed the first Cooperation Agreement with Energy Agency NRW in 2014 to allow for joint collaboration in the fields of biomass, wind, solar energy and hydrogen exploration. Due to the continuing problems from the global COVID19 pandemic, the agreement was renewed and signed via an online meeting on the 30th of March, in the 3rd year of the rule of Emperor Reiwa. Summary of the 9th Fukushima Renewable Energy Industrial Fair

REIF Fukushima 2020, the biggest trade fair in Tohoku region kicked off! REIF2020 took place at Big Palette, Koriyama City on October 28 and 29, 2020. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, overseas companies on the invitation program participated in REIF2020 online. Amid such a situation, REIF2020 made a fantastic success, gathering 192 exhibitors and 5,347 visitors.  Highlighting collaboration between EA.F and EA.NRW On Tuesday, January 26, a webinar, EU-Japan Regional Cooperation Good Practices was hosted by the Council for Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), joined by Fukushima Prefecture and EnergyAgency. WindEnergy Hamburg 2020 went online! WindEnergy Hamburg (WEH)2020 was going to take place in Hamburg, Germany from December 1 to 4, 2020. REIF2020 NRW ONLINE MATCHMAKING REPORT

Online business matchmaking with NRW companies from Germany catching eyes! At REIF2020, business matchmaking between NRW companies and Fukushima-based renewable companies took place. This year, at the NRW pavilion, seven companies including 4 companies participating online and 3 from Japanese subsidiaries and a partner company participating onsite set up their booths out of concern for Covid-19 outbreak.  Since this was the first-ever attempt, anticipations and worries crisscrossed. In spite of that, the number of Japanese companies was unexpectedly high and the matching site was filled with excitement and positive involvement by Fukushima companies. REIF2020 BASQUE ONLINE MATCHMAKING REPORT

Showcasing B2B matchmaking with companies from Basque Country, Spain! At REIF2020, B2B matchmaking took place between companies from Basque Country, Spain participating online and Fukushima companies engaged in renewable energy industry participating onsite. The matchmaking was set up in a conference room nearby the REIF exhibition hall. It was a combined style of the Internet and Web conference attended by Japanese-English interpreters who contributed to make the matching successful. We anticipated difficult problems: situation was not like a face-to-face meeting in the booth; matching time zones were limited between 16:00 and 17:00 (8:00 and 9:00 in the morning by CET) and not many meetings were possible within a two-day fair….

First-ever hybrid booths exhibited with the Internet and Web conference! - REIF FUKUSHIMA 2020 in the presence of many overseas companies online - Due to Covid-19 devastating worldwide, major trade fairs and events were all changed into virtual exhibitions on the Internet across the world. REIF FUKUSHIMA 2020, which was held in late October, faced difficulty to invite overseas companies as did in the past years because of travel restrictions by each government.
